I went to Elevator at Byblos again last night and just wanted to let people know how good this club is. Don't think I've been to a club with friendlier doormen which is always a deciding factor on whether to go to a club or not. Reasonably priced entry and drinks with 2 contrasting rooms of music. The R&B/Hip Hop in room 2 is great if you're into that sort of music, I am and had a great time in there. Room 1 is your more traditional club scene and has a really good vibe going on. All in all I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone looking for an alternative to the usual suspects in Glasgow. I'll definitely be back soon.
Went to Byblos on Sat 16th Jan, hadn't been before, but a couple of my friends had, so thought I'd give it a go. We responded to their facebook advertisement earlier in the week and got on the guest-list and into the vip for a fiver, which is pretty good value on a Saturday night, especially since there were 10 of us! No hassle getting in the club, bouncers were pretty welcoming actually, which I find is a rare thing!
It was pretty busy as soon as we got in, and continued to fill up the rest of the night, and was totally jumping by 1am. There was a bit of a queue at the bar, but the bar staff were friendly and to give them credit, they were going as quick as they could. Drinks prices were pretty standard for a Saturday night. The djs continued to play past 3 even though the bar was shut which is always a good thing on a Saturday!
Vip was a different atmosphere, more chilled out, good place to go if you fancy a seat and giving your feet a rest. All in all, a great Saturday night, will definitely be back!
Rubbish is an understatement. This once great club is turning into a typical G1 unit, soulless and lifeless with no decent residents.
I have to agree with the overall theme of this thread, the music in Byblos is gash. I would rather goto Karbon,
It's busier, is looks better, has more girls, the music across the club is better and the Dj's are far superior in both what they do in the club and who they are in Glasgow.
I agree with the reply review. What is going on people of Byblos. I am a regular and used to love the music in the vip bar it was great and now its awful.
The Dj wouldn't even play any of the songs I asked for and they were songs I danced too on many occasions in the same place.
Sort it out guys and tell him to play the music the used to play i love the rnb room but like the option of enjoying the vip room as well.I saw the review that says new management has taken over.
Well I hope they check this and that other users say their opinions.
Love.Lucy.
Went to Byblos club at the weekend with a crowd of friends including some Irish mates... what a difference a year makes.
We had a great night and music was excellent. Went last year and thought that the club was ok, heard its new management running it, if true then what a difference its made!
Will definately be back !!!!Paula and co xx
It is by far the only club in Glasgow still making an effort to hold onto the international club/music scene. They have invested heavily in the acts and guest DJ's past and present. and shows no sign of stopping their diverse selection of acts with Snow Patrol and Bell and Sebastian Dj-ing at the new year. They also have one of the best weekly Dj line ups in town with Ian Thomson (M8) and Paul Rea in the main room, Stuart McCorssiken in room 2 and Scoot and Will Gunn in the VIP room. All rooms have their own pull with the Byblos crowds and the VIP being the exclusive area for the Saturday nights. The VIP room is pretty much unknown to the majority of the Byblos crowd, which may be the intentions of the management but in my personal opinion is a bit of a shame as it really is a little gem of place to be on a Saturday night. The only place in town on a Saturday night where you can go from dancing to 'Aint no mountain high enough' to 'white lines'. I am in most weekends and stay in the VIP when im with the girlfriend, but when it out with te bos its into the main room for a truly up front experience with Mr Thomson and Mr Rea. Love it.
